34. Ship game

Sample Overview

The Ship Game Starter kit is a complete XNA Game Studio game developed by Fabio Policarpo. The game is very reminiscent of the old descent games which I loved. ShipGame is a 3D spaceship combat game set inside a complex tunnel system. Players can fly around where there is really no up or down. This kit makes full use of the advanced effect available in XNA Game Studio.

It features advanced lighting and textures, a full GPU particle system, and advanced physics. Explore the tunnels on your own or take on a friend head-to-head by using split-screen mode. The game comes ready to compile and run, and you are free to use its source code as the basis for your own XNA Game Studio game projects, and to share your work with others.

  1. Descent co-creators Matt Toschlog and Mike Kulas want to make a spiritual successor to the “six-degree of freedom” shooters they released back in the 90s. Their game is called Overload. After watching the video, it made me think back to this starter kit as it has some similarities. Here is a link: https://youtu.be/mjpf5ztwTRw
